The Peddie School is a private, independent, coeducational boarding and day school in Hightstown, New Jersey, for grades 9 to 12 and postgraduate. Its application for fall 2027 entry comes down to a short list of dates and pieces. This guide puts them in the order families meet them, with what Peddie says about each one.
The short version
Peddie's application deadline is January 15. Financial assistance materials are also due by January 15. Admission decisions and financial assistance determinations arrive together on March 10. Interviews are required, and Peddie accepts the SSAT or the ISEE. Peddie's pages print these as month and day, so confirm the year on the school's admissions site before you plan around it. We read them as January 15, 2027 and March 10, 2027 for fall 2027 entry.
Step 1: Complete the inquiry form
Peddie asks families to complete an inquiry form first. After that, you apply through either the Standard Application Online (SAO) or the Gateway to Prep Schools Application. Either one works, so use the platform your student's other schools already use if you are applying to several.
Step 2: Arrange the interview
Interviews are required, and they run Monday through Saturday. To arrange one, contact the admission office at admission@peddie.org or (609) 944-7501. Peddie's pages do not say how long an interview lasts, so ask when you book. Do not leave this for January. The interview is one of the few steps that depends on someone else's calendar.
Step 3: Decide on testing
Peddie says, "We accept the SSAT or the ISEE." For applicants to grade 9 or 10, the school asks that score reports go directly to Peddie using its school codes. The SSAT code is 5716 and the ISEE code is 571501.
Grade 11 and postgraduate applicants follow a different list. They may send SSAT, ISEE, ACT, PSAT or SAT reports to admission@peddie.org, and they also submit a graded writing sample. Non-native English speakers submit TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo results, and that requirement may be waived after three years at a school where English is the main language of instruction.
Peddie does not say on the pages we reviewed whether a missing test score would end an application, and it does not publish average scores. If your student cannot test before January, ask the admission office directly rather than guessing.
Step 4: Gather the application pieces
Peddie lists these as required:
- A student biographical profile
- Student essays
- Transcripts for the current year, including the first quarter or trimester, and for the past two years
- Recommendations from the current English teacher, the current math teacher, and a principal or guidance counselor
- The Peddie School supplement form
These are optional:
- A parent statement
- A personal recommendation from a mentor, teacher or coach
- The Character Skills Snapshot
- Vocal music, instrumental music or theater supplements, and an athletic interest form
Ask your three recommenders early. They are writing about a student they teach right now, and they are also helping other families in the same weeks.
Step 5: Financial aid, if you need it
Families who want financial assistance apply through Clarity and submit all materials by January 15, the same day as the application deadline. Plan the two together, because the tax documents take longer than most families expect. Peddie reviews admission applications without regard for a family's ability to pay. See our financial aid guide for the full process.
Dates at a glance
| Step | Date | | --- | --- | | Inquiry form, then interview | Before the deadline (contact the admission office) | | Application deadline | January 15, 2027 | | Financial assistance materials due | January 15, 2027 | | Admission decisions and aid determinations | March 10, 2027 |
What Peddie has not published
On the pages we reviewed, Peddie does not publish an admit rate, the number of applicants and seats, or average test scores. It also does not list the date the application opens, the essay prompts, the length of the interview, or a candidate reply deadline. Those details usually appear inside the application account or in the admission office's reply, so check there.
A sample plan, working backward from January 15
This is our suggestion, not a Peddie rule. Work backward from the deadline so no single week carries too much.
- Early November: Complete the inquiry form. Choose SAO or Gateway. Ask the admission office for interview times.
- Mid November: Hold the interview. Send recommendation requests to the English teacher, the math teacher and the counselor or principal. Pick a test date.
- December: Take the SSAT or ISEE if you have not. Send the school codes so the report goes straight to Peddie. Finish the essays and the supplement form.
- Early January: Ask the school to send transcripts that include the first quarter or trimester. Submit financial assistance materials to Clarity if you need them.
- By January 15: Make sure every piece shows as received in your application account.
Peddie asks for the first quarter or trimester of the current year, so those grades may not be ready until the term ends. Ask the registrar about its timing now instead of in January.
What to do this week
Complete the inquiry form and book the interview. Then pick one test and put a date on the calendar, and send your recommenders their requests. See the full timeline, the application steps and the FAQ.
