Peddie School tuition and financial aid for 2026-27

Peddie lists 2026-27 tuition of $81,000 boarding and $69,300 day. See how need-based aid works, what Clarity asks for and when to apply.

Peddie lists its 2026-27 tuition as $81,000 for boarding students and $69,300 for day students. The school also says it awards $12 million in financial assistance, and that 39% of students receive aid. Here is how the cost and the aid process fit together for families applying for fall 2027 entry.

What tuition includes

Peddie says tuition includes a laptop, three daily meals seven days a week, weekend activities, health and wellness support, trips, and the college counseling team. An optional tuition refund plan is available at cost. Because the school lists so much inside the figure, read the tuition page before you assume a separate fee for something. Then ask the business office about anything the page does not mention, such as books or travel.

How financial assistance works

  • Grants are based on need. Peddie says it calculates grants from household income, expenses, assets and family size.
  • Peddie aims to meet need. The school says its grants are designed to meet 100% of a family's demonstrated need.
  • Reported figures. Peddie reports $12 million in financial assistance, with 39% of students receiving aid and grants averaging 70% of tuition.
  • How to apply. Families apply through Clarity, add The Peddie School as a recipient, and complete the Clarity Enhanced Tax Verification process. Families who file taxes outside the United States upload income verification instead.
  • Deadline. All financial assistance materials are due to Clarity by January 15. Peddie's pages print the month and day, so confirm the year on the school's site. We read it as January 15, 2027.
  • Decisions. Families receive the financial assistance determination with the admission decision on March 10.
  • Work commitment. Peddie says recipients have no work commitment beyond that of any Peddie student.
  • Renewal. Families must reapply every year.

Does need affect admission?

Peddie says admission applications are reviewed without regard for a family's ability to pay. It also says the final phase is need aware. In plain terms, the first read ignores need, and the last step can take available funds into account. Applying for aid is a normal part of the process, and the school's own wording is the best guide to how it works.

Fee waivers, merit scholarships and payment plans

Peddie grants application fee waivers on the basis of demonstrated financial need, and requests go to FA@peddie.org. We could not confirm the application fee amount on the pages we reviewed, so check the school's admissions site for the current figure.

The school also awards merit scholarships, from $30,000 a year to full tuition and boarding. Anyone who completes the application by January 15 is automatically considered, with no separate form.

For paying tuition, Peddie lists a 1% discount for payment in full by July 15, two installments due July 15 and December 15, a monthly plan through FACTS, and loans through Your Tuition Solution.

International families

Peddie says it has exceptionally limited funds available for international applicants. International applicants who complete their application and interview by January 15 are considered for merit awards. International applicants can contact internationalcoordinator@peddie.org, and applicants from mainland China first interview with Vericant.

Boarding or day: how the tuition figures compare

Peddie lists $81,000 for boarding students and $69,300 for day students, a difference of $11,700. Both figures cover the academic program and the items listed above. Boarding adds residential life: students live in dormitories on campus, and Peddie says it has boarding and day students, though its pages we reviewed do not give the percentage of each. Whether a family can choose day status depends on where it lives and on the school's own rules, so ask the admission office before you build a budget around the lower figure.

Because aid is calculated from need, the grant for a boarding student and a day student in the same family can differ. Ask the school how it treats the difference when it sends your determination.

Questions worth asking before you apply

  • What does the application fee cost today, and how do I request a waiver?
  • Is a test score strictly required, or can an application be read without one?
  • If our income changes after we apply, what should we send and to whom?
  • Which costs sit outside tuition, such as books, travel, personal expenses and optional trips?
  • How does the school handle the tuition refund plan, and what does it cost?
  • What happens to our aid in later years if our household changes?

Write down the answers and keep them with your Clarity confirmation. Families often compare several schools in the same spring, and a short file of what each school told you makes the March decisions easier to read side by side.

A simple budgeting routine

1. Write down both tuition figures and decide which one applies to your student. 2. Ask your tax preparer for last year's documents now, since Clarity needs them. 3. Open your Clarity account and add The Peddie School before the end of the fall. 4. Submit everything by January 15, the same day as the application deadline. 5. Wait for March 10, then compare the grant with the tuition on the page.

Questions about aid go to FA@peddie.org. See the full tuition and aid page, the timeline and the FAQ.
